- The Chinese Panda is a series of bullion coins issued by the People’s Republic of China.
- The first silver panda was issued in 1983 to test for demand, but they were not officially minted until 1989.
- The coins obverse displays one of Chinas oldest Taoist Temples, the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.
- The inscription along the top translates to “The People’s Republic of China. “ Along the bottom is the year.
- The coins reverse, which changes annually, displays the beloved Chinese Panda.
- The reverse also shows the weight, purity and face value of the coin.
- The Chinese mints do not use mint marks so it’s almost impossible to tell which mint each coin comes from.
